Every photo booth sells sessions. Frame Lab sells something else: the guest's own creativity. They design a personal frame in the browser, pay for it, and use it at your booth, and on booths running it, that adds roughly 10 to 30 percent revenue on top of sessions. It is the feature we show first in every demo, and this post explains exactly how it works.
Here is Frame Lab in action, from QR scan to printed strip:
The idea
Guests already want personal: their name, their colors, their inside joke on the photo strip. Normally that means the operator designs a custom template per client, which works for weddings but never for walk-in traffic. Frame Lab flips it: the guest becomes the designer, and pays for the privilege.
The typical Frame Lab purchase is a birthday: someone celebrating designs a frame with the name and date, friends shoot with it at the booth, and the strip goes home as a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Nobody in the group thinks of it as paying extra for software, they are buying their own design printed.
How it works, both sides
For the guest: scan a QR code, land in the frame builder in the browser, no app install. They design on your canvas using the textures and graphics you provide: textures fill the frame's background, graphics can be placed, resized, and rotated. They pay, receive a voucher, and their frame is ready at the booth.
For the operator: everything is configured from the dashboard. Per booth, you set the price, the canvas size, and how long the paid voucher stays valid, and you can copy one booth's setup to all of them in a click. The upload page and the studio asset library are shared across your whole business, so you curate one set of textures and graphics that fits your brand. A booth needs at least one active template before Frame Lab can switch on, and the feature is part of Pix Pro.
What to charge
We charge Rp 50.000 per custom frame on our own booths in Indonesia, and it sells because the comparison in the guest's head is not "software fee", it is "my own design, printed". Price it like a small product, not a toggle. Against 2026 session prices of Rp 30.000 to 75.000, a Rp 50.000 add-on that costs you nothing extra per unit is the best margin in the building, which is how booths running it see that 10 to 30 percent lift.
Two practical notes from running it: keep your studio assets curated rather than exhaustive, guests design faster and better from thirty good graphics than three hundred random ones. And set the voucher validity to fit your traffic, long enough to design at home before a visit, short enough that pricing changes do not haunt you.
