Changing what a photo booth shows on screen used to mean waiting a week for someone else's programmer. That is the whole process, and this post shows how it works and where its limits are.
The problem it exists to solve
Before building Pixture, we ran booths on software from another vendor, and redesigning the booth screens was genuinely painful. It was never clear where you were supposed to design. Figma exports needed to be sliced per element. Photoshop files were rejected if you sent a single merged image. And even after we delivered a Figma file with every element neatly separated, the vendor had to call their programmer to apply the design, which took about a week.
A week, for a screen change. A booth screen should be as easy to swap as the poster taped to the side of the machine. If a client books a themed event for Saturday, a week simply does not work. So when we built our own software, this was one of the first things we fixed.
How it works
The UI Editor is a Figma-like canvas in your browser, covering the screens the guest sees: home, tutorial, payment, template selection, capture, filters, and sharing.
- Design anywhere you like. Figma, Photoshop, Canva, anything. Export the screen as one image, no slicing per element.
- Drop it on the canvas. Your design becomes the screen's background.
- Place the interactive areas. Drag a click area where your design has a button, pick the action it triggers (start a session, go to payment, retake), and size it to match.
- Save. The booth pulls the new screens instantly. No build, no release, no site visit.
That last part matters more than it sounds. When a client wants a promotion poster on the booth for one weekend, you add it and it is live before you finish your coffee. When the weekend ends, swap the old look back the same way.
What it is honestly not
The UI Editor is not a free-form app builder. You work within Pixture's pre-made pages and the button actions the booth understands. You cannot invent a new page type or a new behavior, and we would rather say that here than let you discover it mid-project. In practice this constraint is what makes the no-code promise real: every action you can place is one the booth already knows how to run reliably at an event.
What operators do with it
The common pattern is themed screens: a client's wedding monogram across every page, a brand activation in full corporate colors, a birthday theme that matches the invitations. The booth stops looking like our software and starts looking like the operator's product, which is exactly the point. Sharing screens, payment screens with the operator's own instructions, seasonal looks that swap in and out per booking, all without anyone touching the machine.
